In what appears to be a first, KISS has just announced that the cities on their upcoming tour of North America will be determined by its fans.
In a partnership with Eventful, KISS fans will be able to vote for the cities to be visited on its 2009 North American tour, which is slated to begin in September. According to the band, “No matter where the fans say – from stadiums to cornfields – if there are enough votes, KISS will be there!”
In order to keep the voting fair, the band is vowing to weigh a city’s population size versus total votes so that every city has a chance to win.
The band will make an official announcement via their Web site at 3 p.m. EST today. Voting will also take place on the band’s Web site, along with its MySpace and Facebook pages, Ticketmaster, VH1Classic, and various other Web sites.
“No band has ever given their fans the power to decide what cities they play, and no fans deserve it more than ours,” Paul Stanley said in a press release. “We're leaving the next U.S. and Canadian tour up to the Army. When they stand up, they will be counted!”
KISS fans will also have the opportunity to purchase pre-sale tickets, and participate in a host of other promotional tie-ins, just for visiting the Web site and voting.
