Following on from last year’s hugely successful Gibson Guitartown London charity campaign, supported by The Gibson Foundation, it was time for the cheque presentation to take place. Representatives from the three benefiting charities attended the presentation, held in the Gibson Guitar Showroom in London. Also in attendance was the campaigns curator Mark Tattersall and Mark Humphrey of Coutts & Co Bank who were one of the sponsors of the charity auction.

At an event with actor and musician "Little" Steven Van Zandt and MENC: The National Association for Music Education, Harris Interactive today released an independent poll which shows a positive association of music with lifelong educational attainment and higher income. Nearly nine in ten people (88 percent) with post graduate degrees participated in music education. Further, 83 percent of those with incomes higher than $150,000 or more participated in music.

The Ronald McDonald House in Rio de Janeiro recently received a very special delivery from the Gibson Foundation. In support of their musical therapy class, Gibson donated a Maestro Electric Mini-V Guitar, a Maestro Acoustic Guitar, and two amps.

Gibson Guitar, the world’s premier musical instrument manufacturer and leader in music technology, announced the Gibson Foundation’s support of Free The Children, the world’s largest network of children helping children. Gibson Foundation has pledged a five-year commitment, during which it will build five eight-room schoolhouses in five different provinces of China. These schools will aid thousands of children in China and bring a much-needed opportunity for primary education with qualified teachers. Each school will be equipped with textbooks, school furnishings, and a playground.

Non-profit relief organization A Child’s Right installed five water purification systems to orphanages and child welfare centers in China earlier this month with support provided by the Gibson Foundation. The water purification systems provide access to clean water for thousands of children, while also allowing newborns to receive formula made with purified water for the first time.

ISME and the Gibson Foundation announced the recipient of the ISME-Gibson Community Music Education Award, 2007 on May 11, during the ISME European Regional Conference organized in partnership with the EAS - European Association for Music in schools Congress, 2007. This ISME Regional Conference was held in Pitea, Sweden between the 10 and 13 May.
