Video Vault: Even More Bizarre Rock Star Film Cameos

Jonah Bayer | 10.03.2008

If you enjoyed our first two installments of bizarre rock star cameos, you’re in luck because we’re back with another chapter in our list of notable rockers’ forays into acting. From Alice Cooper to Chris Cornell, today’s list is an eclectic one, full of appearances that you may not have caught the first time around.

As if The Boss couldn’t get any cooler, Bruce Springsteen’s cameo as himself in High Fidelity shows that the legendary songwriter also has a healthy sense of humor — and he’s not a bad actor, either. Seriously, what can’t he do?

We can’t think of anyone who would be a better celebrity participant in an international pot smoking competition than country music icon Willie Nelson and apparently the director of Beerfest couldn’t, either.

We hate to typecast, but if you need a creepy guy at a dive bar to play a murderer, it’s hard to top Marilyn Manson. Although his character gets set up in the film Jawbreaker, Manson’s performance — and creepy moustache — are both super sleazy in the best way possible.

Singles wouldn’t be a valid account of the ’90s grunge scene without an innocuous guest appearance from Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, who comes out of his apartment to check out the Matt Dillon’s killer car stereo. See if you can spot cameos from members of Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains throughout the film as well.

Anyone who’s ever been backstage at a concert probably already know that green rooms usually don’t look like Alice Cooper’s digs in Wayne’s World, but his conversation/history lesson with Wayne and Garth is still one of the most memorable rock star cameos of all time. In fact, it almost makes us want to visit Wisconsin ourselves.
