Signature Solos in Slow-Mo: Slash & GN’R’s “Sweet Child of Mine”

Jerry McCulley | 08.01.2008
Legend has it that a young Eddie Van Halen used to teach himself the classic rock solos of his youth by playing records on a turntable at a slower speed, then painstakingly deciphering their licks note-by-note. Thanks to digital technology, Eddie’s early learning technique has evolved considerably, becoming a visual experience where guitar students and/or fret journeymen can now easily review the scales and techniques used to create classic rock licks. Here’s Slash’s signature solo from Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child of Mine,” as played by Swedish YouTube subscriber Dudt in slow-motion.
