Glenn Hughes is riding a phenomenal wave lately.
Classic Rock magazine in the U.K. has been running a poll to vote for the best rock singer and Hughes is currently leading the pack by a wide margin. That comes as no surprise since Stevie Wonder once called Hughes his favorite white singer.
Currently touring the world in support of his new solo effort, First Underground Nuclear Kitchen, Hughes is known as one of the funkiest rock bass players on the planet so it’s always a treat when he straps on a six string during his live shows. A lot of the songs written while a member of Trapeze, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath were started on the guitar. In fact, Hughes has been performing intimate acoustic evenings where it’s just him and the guitar, playing gems from his vast catalog.
We recently caught up with Glenn at the NAMM show in Los Angeles. As an endorsee of the Epiphone Blues Custom 30 amp, he had this to say, “The Epiphone Blues Custom 30 Amp has it all. It can handle all of my styles, whether it's rock, funk, soul or blues. It gives me exactly what I need to express myself in this musical hybrid, from a club to a stadium and beyond. I will only play the very best ... and that's Gibson and Epiphone.”
