Gibson and Epiphone Artists Rock the 2008 Reading Festival

Over the recent August Bank holiday weekend the annual Reading Festival took place. Over 180,000 people came to the holy grail of British rock festivals to see bands such as The Killers, Metallica, Babyshambles, The Raconteurs, Rage Against The Machine, The Fratellis, Queens of the Stone Age, Editors, Manic Street Preachers and Tenacious D take to the world famous main stage.

Gibson Announces Miami GuitarTown, Calls for Artists

Gibson announced the launch of Miami GuitarTown, the second installment of such an exhibit in Florida, which will take place throughout the city of Miami. Miami GuitarTown is a public arts project featuring 10-foot tall fiberglass Gibson Les Paul model guitars and a series of showcase regular-size Epiphone Casino guitars artistically designed and painted by local and nationally acclaimed visual artists and placed throughout Miami in front of city landmarks, sponsor locations and other popular destinations for several months. Each guitar sculpture will be partnered with a celebrity and will be backed by a corporate sponsor. The project will unite the Miami art, music and business communities behind the opportunity to raise proceeds for local charities.

Outside Lands Festival Photo Slideshow: Gibsons Everywhere!

San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park hosted the inaugural Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival this past weekend. Across the park, Gibson guitars certainly weren’t in short supply! Over 150,000 people turned up to the sprawling music festival, headlined by Radiohead, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Jack Johnson.

Tony Iommi Wows Sold-Out Texas Crowd

Iconic Gibson artist Tony Iommi took the stage during the Heaven and Hell tour on August 24, 2008 at the Verizon Amphitheatre in San Antonio, Texas, where he performed with his SG before sold-out crowds. Iommi continues on the tour through August 31, when he'll close the tour at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in San Francisco, California.

Music Rising Partners with the Friends of New Orleans and Tipitina’s Foundation to Bring Legendary New Orleans Musicians to National Party Conventions

Music Rising, a campaign founded in 2005 by U2’s the Edge, legendary producer Bob Ezrin and Gibson Guitar Chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, as an effort to aid musicians, schools and churches after the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina & Rita, announced its support of New Orleans All-Star Jam-Balaya events to be held at the Democratic and Republican Conventions. Kicking off in Denver on August 24 with the Democratic National Convention Committee’s Opening Night Reception and the Friends of New Orleans All-Star Jambalaya at The Filllmore Auditorium, this series of high profile concerts and events will culminate in Minneapolis on September 1, the first day of the Republican Convention, with the Friends of New Orleans All-Star Jam-balaya at the historic First Avenue music venue. These events, along with additional benefit shows in Aspen, Colorado and Jackson Hole, Wyoming will showcase the best of Louisiana food and music, while calling attention to the ongoing rebuilding efforts of the Gulf region and immediate need to prevent further loss of Louisiana’s coastal wetlands in order to preserve the rich cultural and musical history of New Orleans.
