Ladies and Gentlemen!!!
Welcome to the first ever blog for Slingerland Drums by the drummer/lead singer for that little band from New Orleans, LA... Mr. Fred LeBlanc!!!
(Cue applause and cheers from audience members) No, thank you, thank you!
This is kinda cool, writing a blog for Slingerland, who just graced me with a BEAUTIFUL set of drums recently. The finish is gorgeous and the tone of the drums just can't be beat! Get it?
Anyway, while the drums have a very resonant low end to them (which helps with the power) the top end cuts through very nicely, which helps when you are trying to do sonic battle with an army of marshal amps! The thing I love most about my new Slingerlands is that with such a wide variety of sounds available to the kit, I can custom the drums to who I am as a player and a person, instead of settling for a generic sound that seems to run through some other drum companies. I'm not like anybody else. I don't want to sound like anybody else. I wanna sound like ME! My Slingerlands let me do that...

My playing style is very simple on one hand, but very intense on the other. I believe that the main point of any musician on stage is to serve the song, period. To that end I feel that being to busy, or playing too much to show that I can play, actually does the songs disservice. Being the front man as well as the drummer of Cowboy Mouth, I've always thought that vocals and drumming go hand in hand. better to play the one perfect note than a million little bullshit ones, right?
I got to bring my kit onto the rock boat and that was a blast! we played with some other bands such as our hosts Sister Hazel, Collective Soul, Better Than Ezra, The Zach Brown Band, Ingram Hill, Gaelic Storm, etc... A good time was had by all and we look forward to it again next year. Its gonna take me a little while to recover, though...
But that's too bad because we start our annual Cowboy Mouth Mardi Gras tour tonite and play through to the 17th of Feb, ending in New Orleans at the House Of Blues... But more on that later...
