Levon Helm’s infamous Midnight Rambles – legendary, late-night all-star jam sessions at his converted barn in Woodstock, New York – are set to be the subject of a photo retrospective book to be published by Backbeat Books in July 2009.
The charismatic drummer, sometime mandolinist, and vocalist of The Band, has been hosting these legendary jams for years, and the concerts have become the stuff of legend.
The book will feature a wealth of stunning photos by Paul LaRaia, the official photographer of the Midnight Ramble. Among the notorious cast of players are Robert Plant, Elvis Costello, Warren Haynes, Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes, David “Fathead” Newman, Mike Gordon and Trey Anastasio of Phish and actor Billy Bob Thornton, among many others.
