U.S. Army visits Gibson

Shane McConnell and Darrell Pacheco, both MPs with the U.S Army's 210 Engineering Unit and currently stationed in Iraq, made the most of a two-week leave by visiting the Gibson USA plant in Nashville to see how Gibson guitars were made (Oct. 29). Shane, a Gibson fan and guitar enthusiast, spent his first minutes back on U.S. soil enjoying the sounds and artistry of Gibson guitars and watching how each guitar is made at the plant. Shane and Darrell listened intently as they were shown how Gibson makes each guitar special.

Hutchinson rocks BMI boat

Songwriter Wes Hutchinson, performed on the BMI Rock Boat Washed Ashore Concert Cruise on October 9th. Wes was named the grand prize winner of BMI's Rock Boat Song Contest, which included the performing spot on the four day rock and roll cruise to Cozumel, Mexico. Wes is currently in New York, working on his debut album.

Hard Rock crowns Uncrowned

Gibson rockers Uncrowned, winners of the 2004 "A Shot at the Cabo Wabo," became the second independent band in the history of Hard Rock Caf to have an instrument added to the HRC permanent memorabilia collection. The unveiling of the band's donated Les Paul Studio took place at the Hard Rock Caf in Atlanta (Oct. 30), and was followed by a Halloween show featuring Uncrowned. "Hard Rock is thrilled to be able to recognize Uncrowned's passion," said Brian Siemienas, director of marketing for Hard Rock International, "and hopefully help the band on its path to stardom." Uncrowned's new record titled Simple Sick Device is scheduled to be released in early 2005, followed by a US tour.

Gibson Game, Set and Match

Gibson Europe hosted a variety of world famous tennis players at the Paris Indoor Open. Tennis players such as Thailand's best, Paradorn Srichaphan, Tommy Haas from Germany, Czech's finest Jiri Novak, and Tim Henman from England all stopped by the Gibson Guitar booth to play and check out the newest and coolest Gibson and Epiphone guitars.





The Darkness donates

Gibson rockers, The Darkness, donated their Alpine White Les Paul Studio to Never Mind the Business (NMTB), a charity event based loosely on the popular television show "Never Mind the Buzzcocks." The charity auction ran last year for the first time and was a huge success. This year with its second effort, it was an even bigger success, raising 109,000 ($200,000). Over 700 people from the business communities attended the event and the evening comprised of an audio visual music quiz with celebrity guests. All of the proceeds from the charity auction went to NCH Scotland, one of the country's leading children's charities dedicated to supporting children and their families who are affected by various forms of abuse.

Gibson overseas

Singer/guitarist Ben from the popular French band Kyo used his new stage guitar, a Gibson J-100 XTRA, to add the final touches to the group's new album being recorded at Mega D studios. Kyo has won numerous awards as the Best French Artist for their previously released album Le Chemin. Kyo's third CD is set to release Dec. 27.

Gibson goes TEC-y

Mega-star Janet Jackson presented the Les Paul Award, sponsored by Gibson Guitar, to production team extraordinaire "Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis" at this year's TEC Awards in San Francisco (Oct. 30). The TEC Awards honor those pioneers in audio, and musicians who have made extraordinary contributions to the industry. One Tree Hill

"One Tree Hill" star Tyler Hilton rocked out with a Gibson on the set of the show during a recent episode. Playing original songs on a Gibson, Tyler rose to #6 on the iTunes charts, and his song went to 106 on Amazon.com after the episode aired! He already has two beautiful new Gibson SJ-200s

Pete Yorn LIVE

Pete Yorn recently performed using his Epiphone John Lennon Casino and his Gibson Hummingbird guitar. Pete already has two critically acclaimed albums under his belt, musicforthemorningafter and Day I Forgot. The Columbia Recording artist is set to release his live album, Live From New Jersey in stores for the first time on Nov. 23 .

Emily the Strange and Conquista

Machy, lead singer with hot Latin female group La Conquista, posed with the Epiphone Emily the Strange guitar at a recent photo shoot for their upcoming release. The Latin superstar is part of a four-member group from Monterrey, Mexico, who will be launching their album Venciendo featuring ten new tracks - eight cumbias and two pop ballads. La Conquista is produced and managed by Q-Productions.



The Electras reunited

Rocking out with their Gibsons, Jon Prouty and Larry Rand, the first two founding members of John Kerry's high-school rock and roll band The Electras, reunited for the first time in 42 years to tape a performance that aired on CNN's "Wolf Blitzer Reports" (Nov. 1). Jon's Gibson of choice was a Songwriter Deluxe Cutaway, while Larry rocked an Alpine White SG Custom.

Ricky's Brand New Strings

Nine-time Grammy winner Ricky Skaggs is back with a new album titled Brand New Strings. This contemporary bluegrass recording is his sixth studio album from his very own Skaggs Family Records, and features Ricky on his two long-played Loar-signed F-5 Master Model mandolins. The Skaggs Family Christmas Tour kicks off Nov. 13 in Wheeling, West Virginia, and includes performances by Kentucky Thunder, The Whites - Buck, Cheryl and Sharon - and other family members.

Rock the Kasabian

Kasabian guitarist Tom Meigham rocks out on a Gibson SG backstage after his show at the London Astoria. After releasing their self-titled album, September 16th, Kasabian has been deemed the band to breathe new life into Britain once again. Watch for an upcoming TV-filming/performance from Tom and Kasabian on December 1st at Hackney Ocean, London.
