 | | SMASHING GUITAR GIVEAWAY
Win a new Pete Townshend Signature J-200 from Gibson Montana. It's modeled after the 1960s J-200 Pete used when he was writing The Who's Tommy. FYI, it's the tone that's smashing - not the guitar. In fact, Pete reveals in an exclusive interview with gibson.com that he regrets smashing all those guitars.

| | Slingerlands get Slaughtered
Mark Slaughter grabbed a set of Black Pearl Slingerlands to use in his Nashville recording studio last week, enlisting session drummer Jimmy Clark for the sessions. "The toms were amazing," Mark said, "the biggest I've heard in a long, long time." Although the Slingerland sound would fit perfectly in the classic metal sound of such Slaughter hits as "Up All Night" and "Fly to the Angels," you'll have to tune in to country radio or Fox TV to hear these toms. Mark used the Slingerlands on tracks for a new country/rock band, High Noon, and for "bumper" music for Fox TV's news and sports channels.

 | | PAGING GIBSON. reviews
The new Wurlitzer Digital Jukebox from Gibson Audio is "Great Gear" according to MAXIM Magazine. In an online article MAXIM hails the Wurly as a "nifty music player... The sleek design makes a bold statement, like, 'I have loads of money and you don't!'" Gibson Audio unveiled jukebox prototypes at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January, and production models will hit the market later this year.
The Gibson GA-5 Les Paul Jr. amplifier got an Editor's Pick Award from Guitar Player in a review that listed the amp's strong points as "Irresistibly cute. Quality construction. Great tone." Reviewer Terry Buddingh also tested the Goldtone GA-15RV, noting its "impressive range of tones from just three knobs." Buddingh summed up with, "Gibson's rich amp legacy reaches back to the dawn of the electric guitar age, and these two amps are much more than mere clones. They give a respectful nod to the past without ignoring valuable modern advancements and necessary improvements."
