Gibson gets Idolized
The original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, stopped by the MTV Networks in New York to sign an LC-1 Cascade for MTV Radio & VH1 Radio to auction off for VH1 Save the Music later this year. With a new video for her song "Breakaway," which is featured on the Princess Diaries 2 soundtrack, Kelly will soon be appearing on CBS' "The Early Show" and on Lifetime Network's "Women Who Rock" later on this year.
While American Idol Kelly was on the east coast, American Idol judge and favorite "dawg," Randy Jackson, hung out on the west coast while showing off the Limited Edition Epiphone Run Hit Wonder guitar at the Portland Run Hit Wonder 10K/5K Race (Aug. 1).

| | Bobby Hamilton Rocks Nashville Superspeedway Nashville native and current NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point leader, Bobby Hamilton outdrove the competition and brought home the Les Paul trophy guitar at the Toyota Tundra 200 at Nashville Superspeedway August 15th. Even though this was his fourth win this season, Bobby got a little teary eyed and had a lump in his throat when he told reporters, "I've had everything happen to me except winning this guitar, so I wanted it bad. Ive been trying for 15 years to get it, so were going to enjoy this one for sure."
The Les Paul trophy guitar is specially designed by renowned motorsports artist Sam Bass. Sam and the Custom Shop have been coming together for years to create what has become one of the most coveted trophys on the circuit.

| | Darkness befalls Gibson
The Darkness rocked out on tour in the U.K. with their new, white Thunderbird bass. Longtime Gibson players, The Darkness have been hitting the road hard to promote their debut album Permission to Land, starting with a U.S. tour and then moving on to the U.K. beginning June 27 in Glastonbury. Their current tour ends in London in late October.

 | | Tejano Music Conference Gibson was exploding with support at the Tejano Music Convention & Vegas Revue, held in Las Vegas from August 13-15. The Gibson-sponsored convention served as meeting grounds for the Tejano music industry and its national fan base. The 2004 Vegas Revue, a huge, classic Vegas-style production, was held nightly in conjunction with the three-day convention, and featured performances by all the big names of Tejano Music, including Grammy Award winners Flaco Jimenez, and Gibson artist Emilio Navaira Y Grupo Rio.

| | Apple & Eve & Gibson
Gibson Montana rocked the Apple & Eve Newport Folk Festival (Aug. 7-8) as the official guitar sponsor of the event. The festival, held in Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island, featured performances by Steve Earle, Joan Osborne, Lucinda Williams and Wilco. The lines outside the Gibson booth were consistently wrapping around the lawn, as visitors waited to find out more about Gibson's Smartwood Guitar. Both Gibson and the Rainforest Alliance, both present in the Gibson booth, were demonstrating the guitar's 100% certified wood design, which helps Gibson to consistently deliver certified, eco-friendly products. | | Eric Clapton Gives a Hand
In the vintage room at the Hollywood Guitar Center, Eric Clapton puts his handprints in terrazzo marble as part of his induction into Hollywood's RockWalk. The private ceremony celebrated his career achievements as a guitarist and entertainer and his ongoing contribution to music. With Clapton is Dave Weiderman, director of RockWalk and artist relations representative for Guitar Center.

| | Jimmy Page's John Hancock
Jimmy Page signed Gibson's donated Les Paul Standard at the Streets of Brazil event, for The Action of Brazil's Children Trust's (ABC), which raises awareness and funds to help disadvantaged children and adolescents in Brazil. The Streets of Brazil CD-ROM, an educational teaching resource, features tools for Geography Stage 3 and Citizenship, and focuses on the afflictions of children living in the streets of Brazil. Jimmy's signed Gibsons will be auctioned off to raise money for the ABC Trust.

| | Les Pauls go Latin
Latin superstar Alejandra Guzman, who is nominated for two Latin Grammys, rocked out with her Custom Les Paul, at her standing room only show at B.B. King's in New York City (Aug. 14). Bandmates Larry and Miguel show off their Les Paul Classic and Les Paul Supreme (respectively) before the performance, which was filmed for Latin TV show "Escandalo" and will air later this year. Alejandra has been busy touring and promoting her debut album, Lipstick, which was released in March.
