Gibson innovations often grow from the requests and demands of professional musicians who use Gibson products. Breakthrough original designs such as the tune-o-matic bridge, the double-coil pickup, and the stopbar tailpiece were inspired by practical suggestions gleaned from customers and endorsees.
Gibson is still listening, and we’re hearing a need for electric guitar strings that achieve greater power and clarity, particularly with the onset of modern technology in the recording and live performance arenas. Gibson engineers have responded by developing a string type that is highly magnetic for increased output and also sounds great and feels natural – without compromising the unflagging commitment to the Gibson Pure tone standard.
The company that invented the humbucking pickup has now invented the Humbucker string – the only guitar strings optimized for humbuckers.
Gibson Humbucker Strings utilize a new composite core wire and a custom formulated wrap wire made of special alloy containing a high iron content. More iron means increased magnetic interaction between the string and the pickup. From the player’s perspective, this mean more clarity and power from any pickup – especially humbuckers. You get more of what you play.
Humbucker strings deliver a distinct, clear rendering of power chords and individual note definition during lead breaks, even when layered through gobs of heavy distortion. The special alloy also produces a tight, focused sound through all types of rack effects, including chorus, flange, echo and delay. They’re musical, no matter what style of music you play.
Gibson engineers also made the strings feel nice and smooth, too, so they won’t eat up frets like conventional stainless steel strings.
Humbucker strings are gauged .009-.042, .010-.046 and .011-.050 and are vacuum packed for freshness. Check out Humbucker strings at your local authorized Gibson dealer
