Jan. 17 - The latest edition of the Gibson/BMI acoustic night was held at the Hard Rock Café -Park Lane, London, and featured performances by Claire Sproule, Morning Lane, Jimmy the Saint, and Big Linda. This press and industry only event garnered over 200 people and was co-sponsored by Jim Beam and Billboard magazine. Epiphone was also on-hand to stir up a little competition. Guests dropped their business cards in a gig bag to win an Epiphone Special II. At the end of the night, the lucky Epiphone winner was Ismael Serna-Ruiz from Ascott International.
Irish musician Claire Sproule played a Gibson J-45 during the Gibson/BMI acoustic night. Claire has recently released her self-titled, debut album, on which she bares her heart, soul, and innermost thoughts. Watch for Claire to play at the London Enterprise on February 16th.
Morning Lane was a big hit at the event as well. Guitarist Steven Dourdil played a J-200 and bassist Ross Butler was on an Epiphone El Capitan. Other Morning Lane members include Joe Killington (vocals), and Jean-Marc Valat (drums) who also showed his guitar talent on a Gibson Hummingbird. The guys are currently hitting the London music circuit as they kick off their U.K. tour.
Rock duo Jimmy the Saint includes band mates Jess Greenfield (vocals), and guitarist Paul “Bren” Brennan who jammed on a Gibson J-185 during the show. Rounding out the show was rock group Big Linda, made up of Rob Alder (vocals), guitarist Patrick Murdoch who rocked a Gibson Dove, and bass player Vezio Bacci who played an Epiphone El Capitan.
