Jan. 20-25 - As Hollywood prepares to head to the mountains of Park City, Utah, a popular stop at Sundance 2006 will be the Gibson Guitar Mountain Lodge at the Miners Club on Main Street. Gibson Guitar will be rocking the lodge again with the celebrity jam sessions that proved to be a hit at last year’s festival. Participants included Lord of the Rings stars Elijah Wood and Billy Boyd, who hosted evening jams every night and brought down the house with their twisted lyrics to popular songs. Glenn Close also stopped by to tell the story of her first guitar, a Gibson that she hadn’t played in years. The five-time Oscar-nominated actress said that picking up a Gibson at the jam session brought back a lot of memories.

The OC’s Benjamin McKenzie, the Wallflowers’ Rami Jaffe, actor Jeff Daniels, and Mario Van Peebles were also seen hanging out at the Gibson Jam Session area while Chevy Chase, James Woods, and Carmen Electra stopped by to say hello.

“Celebrities are invited to strum a few tunes with friends in our hospitality lodge or just visit us for good music and good times. Everyone had a blast last year and we can’t wait to see who will jam with us this year,” said event producer Kathy Carpenter.

This year, celebrity guests have the opportunity to aid  Music Rising, a campaign to put instruments back into the hands of musicians who have lost everything in the hurricane disasters of the Gulf Region. The campaign, headed by U2 guitarist the Edge, will continue to aid musicians through the MusiCares organization. Each celebrity at the Gibson Guitar Mountain Lodge will be asked to autograph a Gibson guitar to be auctioned later with proceeds going directly to Music Rising. Lead partners Gibson Guitar and Guitar Center Music Foundation have spearheaded the initial effort by collaborating with the Edge and producer Bob Ezrin. Providing a great atmosphere for a great cause, the Gibson Guitar Mountain Lodge is once again the place to be at Sundance.
