Gibson Guitar Dominates 2006 Brit Awards

Jan. 11 - The 2006 Brit Award nominations have been announced and once again Gibson artists dominate the running. The awards ceremony will take place at Earls Court Arena in London on February 15th and will be filmed for a two-hour broadcast on ITV1 the following day.

James Blunt, who plays a Gibson J-45 and LG-1, is up for five nominations, including British Male Solo Artist, British Single, and Pop Act. James’s debut album Back to Bedlam has sold more than 2.3 million copies and topped the charts for over 40 weeks. 

KT Tunstall, who plays a Gibson Dove acoustic, has been nominated in three categories, including British Breakthrough Act, following four hit singles from her debut album Eye to the Telescope.

Other Gibson Guitar artists nominated for a prestigious Brit Award include the Kaiser Chiefs, the Magic Numbers, Franz Ferdinand, U2, Coldplay, Oasis, and Katie Melua. The Kaiser Chiefs, the Magic Numbers and Noel Gallagher of Oasis all play Gibson ES-335s.

Epiphone artist Paul Weller will be awarded with a special Brit Award for his outstanding contribution to British music and will close the ceremony with one of his classic songs. The queen of pop, Madonna, has been confirmed as the opening act.
