Internationally renowned pianist Maestro Vladimir Viardo, has begun a tour of China sponsored by Gibson China and featuring a Baldwin piano at every performance. The tour is highlighted by a master class in the prestigious Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and a formal concert performance at Beijing Poly Theater with the China Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra.

“This is the first time I came to China, which is a country I dreamed of ever since I was 17,” Mr. Viardo said at a Teacher’s Day celebration in Fushan, Guangdong province, that kicked off his China tour. “I am so surprised to see everything here with such a growth, prosperous and progress. As a teacher myself, I would like to send you all warmest regards at this special Teacher’s Day.”

Internationally known concert pianist Maestro Liu Shikun of China, who earned his fame in 1962 as second prize winner at the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition, also performed at the Teachers Day event.

Mr. Viardo’s previous tours have taken him to North, Central and South America, Europe, Asia, South Africa and Israel, as well as other countries around the globe. His recordings include the works of Nicoli Medtner, Lutoslawski, Debussy, and his first Pro Piano release, Bach-Liszt and Franck-Viardo Organ Piano Transcriptions, received international critical acclaim.
