Countries including Kenya, Ukraine, Russia, Romania and Ethiopia were represented among the tens of thousands of American runners. Various music bands were set up on stages all along the course that took participants from the west side of Nashville, through downtown, to the east side of Nashville, and finally to the Adelphia Stadium (home of the Tennessee Titans) by the Cumberland River.

Gibson President Dave Berryman was on hand to award the Marathon top prize in the men’s and women’s divisions, a Gibson Les Paul and a 2005 Nissan XTerra ($17,500) which was awarded to Nephat Kinyanjui of Kenya (men’s) and Irina Safarova of Russia (women’s).
