Foxx wins Oscar for ‘Ray’

Home
Actor Jamie Foxx scooped up the Oscar for Best Actor for his role as Ray Charles in the blockbuster hit Ray. Throughout the movie, Foxx/Charles was featured with an ebony M-1 Baldwin grand piano. The Baldwin family of instruments was also represented by a vintage Wurlitzer electric piano, which Charles used for the signature opening sounds of his hit “What’d I Say.”

In coordination with the DVD release of Ray, which was nominated for a total of six Academy Awards including Best Picture, Tower Records gave away the actual M-1 Baldwin used in the film. Valued at more than $50,000, the Baldwin offers not only superior sound but a piece of Academy Award-winning movie history. Baldwin will soon be announcing the lucky winner of Ray's piano.
