Travis Wammack

The undisputed fastest guitar player in the South, the great Travis Wammack is a stalwart of greasy blue-eyed soul and gritty, down-home blues. From hair-raising instrumentals like "Scratchy" to years of session work at the famous Fame studios in Muscle Shoals, where he was a house guitarist alongside a young Duane Allman, to a long stint as guitarist for Little Richard, Wammack developed a style and attack like no other. One of the true great guitarists of American music, who deserves a wider audience and broader recognition. Here, Travis reminisces at Gibson in Memphis about his years as a guitar-slinging unsung hero.
