Roberto Chojniak
"BELLA DONNA"
Mosaic Tile: Mosaic tile guitar celebrating Stevie Nicks.
After twenty years of creating mosaics in Los Angeles, artist Roberto Chojniak joined the 2012 Sunset Strip Guitartown project with great enthusiasm. “I am so proud to be honored with the opportunity and can’t wait to add my Stevie Nicks guitar to the legend of Les Paul, Gibson and the City of West Hollywood known for its constant creativity” said Roberto.
Bio
Raised and educated in his early years in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Roberto at first started to study Architecture but soon moved into fine art. Roberto arrived in the United States in 1990, and began creating art pieces that were shown in various venues around Los Angeles. He combines in his paintings the same bold colorful expressions and musical themes often found in his mosaics.
Roberto likes to create mosaics that offer a photorealistic touch in a medium that is mostly comprised of glass tiles and rare precious metals. The resulting images stand out in crisp colors, strong lines and familiar themes. From large infinity pools to commercial store fronts, Roberto’s compositions are exact and clean. The quality of his mosaic work was quickly noted and Roberto became a Premier Bisazza installer. This opportunity opened up many avenues for Mr. Chojniak to work on larger and more intricate designs and installations throughout California. He has performed complex mosaic repairs and is recognized as a premier artisan whose work is both technically precise and artistically engaging.
“I chose Stevie Nicks because when I think of American female rock and roll singers, I think of Fleetwood Mac and then I think of Stevie Nicks. I remember her dynamic images as a singer, her body language, the flowing clothes, singing from her soul. A happy image, a smiling face--wearing red velvet,” said Roberto.
Roberto leads Mosaic Store Inc., a local, Los Angeles company specializing in installations of all glass tile pools, as well as mosaic bathrooms. This project is an opportunity to move into public art works. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and 2 children.
