K.A. Blue
Born to Leartis and Loretha Blue, K.A. Blue hails from the South Bronx, New York City. His first memories are that of him drawing. He was blessed, in that, his parents noticed his gift early on and supported and nurtured it. Blue attended the Fashion Institute of Technology and majored in Illustration/Fine Art. Since graduating in 1991, he has been published and featured in mulitple books, magazines, greeting cards, live paintings, and exhibitions. His resume reflects over two decades of recognition and creativity.
In addition to painting and illustrating, Blue has had the privilege of being an Art/Music education teacher for the Bronx Museum of Art, The Guggenheim, The Maryland School of Art, Drumming for Your Life (LA), various after-school programs (LA), as well as the Rock Rose Gallery, where he has proudly served as the artist in residence for the last three and a half years.
Blue is also a member of the New Bohemian Renaissance Artist Movement, based in New York City-founded by Julio Pinargote, Keith Duncan. He is also a member of The Urban Individualist-founded by Helene Ruiz. He currently attends classes conducted by Margaret Garcia, a figure-head in the Chicano artist movement of LA and is involved with her CWA Stamp project.
Blue has resided in Los Angeles for the last four years and is proud to call LA home. Aside from being a visual artist, he is also a trained percussionist, currently playing with Operation Stankfinga, The Ghetto Alienz, The Pretentious Pidgins, and AngelaLeo.
