Jon Planas was once asked by an admirer of his artworks, when was the first time that Jon created anything that would be an art piece, and his answer was rather a peculiar one. He said he never knew what art was he just wanted to draw the legendary Bugs Bunny and Bambi, which he did at the age of 4 years old when he became enrolled into a correspondence art school located in the Mid-West. Planas was always a serious quiet kid says his Mom who had nicknamed him viejo for his meritorious manner in his dress and his advanced intellectual interests to be continued for now this is a beginning!!!

Planas has a particular relationship to the vibrant visual history of the Sunset Strip. In XXXX his “Absolute World” billboard was unveiled at the East gateway of the Sunset Strip. A West Hollywood based artist at this time, Planas continues to create art that is larger than life, yet still a celebration to the intimate details of daily living.
