Elliot Mazer

By Bryan Wawzenek

Throughout his career, producer Elliot Mazer has been on the forefront of technology. Not only did he help invent D-Zap (which protects musicians from shock hazards) and develop the AirCheck monitoring system, Mazer designed the world’s first digital recording studio – completely revolutionizing the way music would be recorded for the rest of time. In addition, he’s served as an engineer and producer, working with some legendary, influential artists, including Bob Dylan, The Band, Janis Joplin and Neil Young. Mazer recently stopped by Gibson’s New York Showroom to discuss his technological achievements, his boundary-pushing work with his pal, Neil Young, and the future of the music industry.
