A Rock Icon, Revved up for 21st Century Heroics Explorer Traditional Pro
Explorer Traditional Pro
Still one of the most radical electric guitar designs on the planet, it's little wonder that the Explorer received a "what the...?" reception when it hit the scene way back in 1958. Very few guitarists had the foresight to appreciate this modern wonder's charms at the time, and the original production run didn't even reach 100 guitars. Come the late '60s and '70s, however, the Explorer, in both its original and reissue incarnations, was proving the ultimate axe for the hard-driving rock and metal merchant. In full embodiment of the spirit of the Explorer, Gibson USA brings you the Explorer Traditional Pro, available only from Guitar Center. This powerful new model carries full-tilt Explorer styling, with traditional Gibson elegance and refinement, and all the tone and playability required by today's demanding player.

Following in the tradition of several classic Gibson electric guitars, the Guitar Center Explorer Traditional Pro from Gibson USA has a body crafted from solid mahogany, with a glued-in quarter-sawn mahogany neck carved in a thin '60s profile and topped with a Grade-A rosewood fingerboard. Killer looks are assured by a genuine nitrocellulose lacquer finish in your choice of Ebony Black or Wine Red, given an added touch of elegance with cream binding around the body and fingerboard, and vintage amber "top hat" control knobs. The time-tested dimensions of a 24 3/4" scale length, a 1 11/16" nut width, and a 12" fingerboard radius ensures that legendary Gibson playability, too.

To take it all to the next dimension, Guitar Center's Explorer Traditional Pro carries two of Gibson USA's most popular humbucking pickups, a '57 Classic in the neck position for sweet, warm vocal tones, and a slightly hotter BurstBucker 3 in the bridge for gutsy crunch and soaring lead tones. These acclaimed units—both installed uncovered with exposed "zebra coil" bobbins—are made with genuine Alnico II magnets and wound with 42 AWG wire, just like the legendary PAFs of the late '50s and early '60s, and offer a blend of depth and clarity that few pickups can match today. A Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece ensure a solid anchor and optimum sustain, while a set of high-quality Mini Grover kidney button tuners grace the soaring six-a-side Explorer headstock. Whether you're ripping out fat classic rock, or laying down thundering modern metal, the Explorer Traditional Pro offers unbeatable tone, and undeniable style, and it's available only from Guitar Center.

Each guitar comes protected in a plush-lined hardshell case with black exterior, and includes owner's manual and adjustment literature, along with Gibson's Limited Lifetime Warranty and 24/7/365 customer service.
