On the eve of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ latest world tour, five of Tom and the band’s guitars have been stolen. The instruments – which include Petty’s white 1965 Gibson SG TV Junior – were pilfered from the band’s Culver City, California rehearsal space, according to a post on Petty’s website.

Petty and friends are offering a $7,500 reward (“no questions asked”) for information leading to the recovery of the five guitars, including a 1967 Epiphone Sheraton belonging to Heartbreaker Scott Thurston.

Petty is requesting that fans with information e-mail StolenGuitars@Tom Petty. For more information, including guitar serial numbers, click here.
