Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is the new president of Impact Ventures, the parent company of pro-wrestling promoters TNA Wrestling and the show Impact Wrestling. Corgan will "be responsible for leading day-to-day operations for Impact and its affiliated brands."

"I believe in this company, its passionate fans, the talented roster and the dedicated staff and crew," Corgan said in a statement. "I am committed to this great opportunity and will use all of my resources and connections to drive the success of this company. This year we have made significant strides in establishing a strong foundation for our future and will be aggressive in continuing to evolve and grow the Impact brands."

Corgan became part of Impact last year. He was also a senior producer for Impact Wrestling. He’s a longtime wrestling fan, so the news isn’t that surprising.

In other news, Corgan just posted a video to Facebook stating he's back in contact with the original Smashing Pumpkins members. “There’s excitement there that surrounds the idea that maybe there’s the possibility that we will get back together," he says in the video, "but until you here it coming from my mouth that the band is getting back together and we will play dates, my primary concern is the family relationships of the band that are ultimately so much more important.”
