The Beatles Cirque Du Soleil

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of LOVE, the Cirque du Soleil theatrical production based around The Beatles’ music, a new video – featuring the LOVE version of George Harrison’s ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ – was recently released on The Beatles’ YouTube channel.

The mesmerizing new video brings together the stunning dance and acrobatic wizardry that Cirque Du Soleil is known for, alongside illustrations and projection mapping, to create a gorgeously contemporary take on The Beatles’ classic. The video uses the George Martin-produced orchestral version of ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’, which was part of the 2006 soundtrack album for the production. The LOVE album, produced by Martin and his son Giles, featured remixes and mash-ups of The Beatles’ catalogue, designed to soundtrack Cirque du Soleil’s production.

George Martin’s work on the LOVE soundtrack would be among his last productions before his death earlier this year. Interestingly, the new video – directed by Dandypunk, André Kasten and Leah Moyer and featuring LOVE performer Eira Glover – comes around the same time as the news that The Beatles’ music has been streamed over a billion times since they were made available for streaming in December 2015.

Cirque Du Soleil’s LOVE opened in 2006 in a specially built theater at The Mirage in Las Vegas and continues to play to this day. The production will stage its tenth anniversary show on July 14th.
