Mumford & Sons Are #1 Again
It’s no surprise that scoring a Grammy usually results in a big spike in record sales. As predicted, alternative folk-rock act Mumford & Sons have the Grammys to thank for boosting their latest album, Babel, back to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
Babel took home Album of the Year honors at the Grammys, and since then, the album has hit #1 on the chart, pushing 185,000 copies, Nielsen SoundScan reports. Of course, the album was #1 for three consecutive weeks last year, so being on top isn’t exactly a new phenomenon for Mumford & Sons.
Other acts that saw an increase in sales after either picking up a Grammy or performing at the ceremony included the Lumineers (moving from #10 to 6 on the chart) and fun. ( moving from #14 to 7).
