mastodon

Congratulations are in order for Mastodon, as the metal band just scored Best Metal Performance at Sunday's Grammy Awards for the track "Sultan's Curse," off Emperor of Sand. Now, the guys have announced a major, co-headlining North American trek with Les Claypool and Primus.

The Mastodon, Primus tour will set off with a May 6 show at Colorado's famed Red Rocks Amphitheater and continue through a July 7 date in Phoenix. Pre-sale for the shows starts Wednesday (Jan. 31). Tickets will go on sale to the general public starting Friday (Feb. 2) at MastodonRocks.com.

"We are so excited to be hitting the road with Primus. They're one of our favorite bands!" Mastodon said in a statement. "This tour is going to be a blast! Don't miss it. Let's get weird!"

Mastodon are on the road to promote their new album, Emperor of Sand. Primus are touring behind their latest release, The Desaturating Seven.
