Black Country Communion

Joe Bonamassa has recruited fellow Black Country Communion member Derek Sherinian for his solo band. The keyboardist is a now a full-time member after joining Bonamassa for his tour of South America in August 2013.

The pair last worked together on 2012’s Black Country Communion album Afterglow. Bonamassa and frontman Glenn Hughes didn’t see eye-to-eye on that release, so Sherinian’s move suggests BCC may not be back soon.

Bonamassa says: “Derek is a great player, and we’re ecstatic to welcome him as the latest member of the band.”

Sherinian is a former member of Dream Theater and he’s also worked with Alice Cooper, Billy Idol and Black Label Society. He was also part of prog supergroup PSMS, also featuring Mike Portnoy, Billy Sheehan and Tony MacAlpine.

Glenn Hughes recently reported he was working on new music with Jason Bonham.

Joe Bonamassa and his band tour the U.K. in September.
