On January 25th, 2013, Gibson Guitar Corp. sold Deutsche Wurlitzer GmbH. Deutsche Wurlitzer GmbH produced a proprietary line of vending machines and also served as an OEM for Gibson of its Wurlitzer Jukeboxes. Gibson does not consider the vending machine business as relevant to its core business. Gibson retains all right to the family of Wurlitzer brand names as well as the Wurlitzer Jukebox business and all associated intellectual property. Plans are currently underway to re-launch the jukebox business globally, which is consistent with Gibson’s continued advances in the consumer electronics field.
Wurlitzer jukeboxes range from the striking design of the innovative Lyra, which accesses streaming internet music as well as media from attached USB storage devices, to the Classic 2000 line that replicates the classic Wurlitzer jukebox of the 1950s. The One More Time line blends classic jukebox looks and style for CD, vinyl, or iPod with modern technology.
