After selling a gazillion albums in the mid-Nineties and blowing past the grunge oversaturation of the airways, Hootie & The Blowfish were officially the biggest band in the world for a while. Which is why it’s always been a bit fascinating that the band’s frontman, Darius Rucker, would branch out into a career as a country artist.

Without a doubt, he’s done more than well and is definitely a bonafide country star today. Since his debut country album in 2008, Rucker’s scored four #1 albums on the country charts. He even won a Grammy in 2013 for Best Country Solo Performance.

Rucker, whose latest album When Was The Last Time released last October, is set to hit the road on a co-headlining tour with fellow country stars Lady Antebellum. The tour titled Summer Plays On Tour will span three months, starting with a show in Toronto in July and winding up in Bristow, VA in October.

According to Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley, “Darius is one of our closest friends, and so we just feel really excited to get to share this tour and those memories on and off stage with him”.

Rucker echoed the sentiment, saying, “Reuniting this summer and heading back out on the road with my friends Lady Antebellum feels like a home away from home.”
