The 60-year-old musician — who abandoned his studies to pursue a musical career — turned in a 48,000-word paper called "Radical Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud" last month to London's Imperial College, granting him a category two pass, and guaranteeing that he will officially be handed his Ph.D. from the college at a ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall next year.
