Green Day’s songs have always been the perfect choice for cover bands. The lyrics are easy, the chords tend to be simple and they’ve always got great choruses. Even Alanis Morissette thinks so. In fact, Billy Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool even came up with a hit live musical where an entire cast of singers perform their songs every night.

And now, another band – this time a British indie pop act – have decided to cover one of Green Day’s biggest hits.

Bastille, the band behind recent pop hits like ‘Pompeii’, ‘Things We Lost In the Fire’ and ‘Good Grief’ recently tweeted a little teaser of their new cover of Green Day’s Dookie-era hit ‘Basket Case’. The band tweeted to say, “We’ve made a version of @greenday’s “Basket Case” with STRINGS AND BRASS”. The new track has been recorded for the soundtrack of a TV show and is set to release on August 17.
