Just when you think country megastar Kenny Chesney couldn’t get any bigger, he clobbers another record. Last month, the Les Paul Standard-lovin’ guitarist, singer, and songwriter’s single “Never Wanted Nothin’ More” flew up the chart quicker than any of his other hits thus far, and, to top the cake, his most recent single “Don’t Blink” debuted at No. 16, the highest debut for a single ever recorded on the Billboard Country Singles chart. And the kudos don’t stop there: Pollstar recently dubbed Chesney’s Flip Flop Summer tour the biggest tour in country music this year.

“I've said it before, and for me, it’s really true,” Chesney said on his website. “We get out there to rock the fans. It’s all about how good a show can we give ’em—and I think what’s amazing is how much they give us! Every summer, I think this is the year we can’t get any more energy, any more sound, any more craziness out of the fans—and then they show us!”

This feverish response is much-needed momentum leading up to the release of Chesney’s new album Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates, which drops September 12.

Of the songs on the album, Chesney says, “I just try to find songs that say something about what feels right about life to me. I don’t know that I’m any different than anybody else, so I find that if a song hits me, well, chances are it’s gonna strike other people out there, too.”
