Steven Tyler Confirms Plans for Aerosmith Farewell Tour

Aerosmith will stage a farewell tour next year, says Steven Tyler. “I love this band, I really do,” Tyler told SiriusXM radio host Howard Stern, “and I want to squash every thought that anybody might have that the band’s over. We’re doing a farewell tour but it’s only because it’s time.”

Guitarists Recall Their Work with David Bowie

Several of David Bowie’s guitarists recently spoke with Music Radar about working with the pioneering artist. Earl Slick, who was integral to Bowie’s mid ‘70s albums, talked about his work on “Stay,” from the 1976 LP, Station to Station. “It was a riff I came up with because David had us working on a new arrangement of his song, ‘John, I’m Only Dancing,’” Slick explained. “But what I came up with was such a huge hook that he immediately turned it into a new song.”

The Recording Academy has announced changes that will impact the Grammy Award nominations in 2017. Not only will there be a reduction in the number of categories a member can vote upon, but songs only available on streaming services can now be nominated for an award. In theory, an artist who sells no songs can per se win!
