A black hearse carrying King’s body traveled down Beale Street. Leading the procession was a Dixieland jazz band, with drummer Rodd Bland, son of the late blues singer Bobby “Blue” Bland, carrying one of King’s beloved “Lucille” guitars in front of the hearse.

“What makes ‘Moonlight Mile’ special is that it’s a song and a recording at once,” observed Mick Jagger. “All these things--the strange plinking piano, the tom-tommy mallets on the drums, the different guitars--they all came together to produce a feeling of vulnerability and loneliness, you know what I mean? Indian vocalist Palak Muchhal is all set to perform at Royal Albert Hall in London on July 22nd as part of BBC Proms 2015. She will be accompanied by an orchestra of over fifty musicians. In addition to being a singer, Palak also engages in a lot of social work and made it into Guiness Book of World Records and Limca Book of World Records for her social service. As a vocalist, she has been nominated for various awards including GIMA and Zee Cine Awards. She recently lent her voice to a song from the Bollywood film Gabbar Is Back

New Country/Rock Festival to Feature Miranda Lambert

Patterned after camping festivals such as Bonnaroo, the three-day event will begin August 28 in Sparta, Kentucky, situated 45 minutes south of Cincinnati. The NiFi Festival is the result of a combined venture by Nitro Fidelity, a California-based entertainment group, and Speedway Motorsports, Inc., an auto racing corporation that owns eight speedways in America.

Guitarist magazine recently sat down with Ron Wood to talk about his new book, How Can It Be? A Rock & Roll Diary. While discussing the limited-edition book, the Rolling Stones six-stringer revealed that his current favorite guitar is a ‘70s Les Paul Goldtop. “I always thought they were too heavy before, I always left them to other people, but I’m really getting off on it,” said Wood. “I’ve had a little hole drilled in the top for my slide so I can get it quickly and Mick Taylor doesn’t nick it. If I put it down, it’s gone, Mick Taylor’s got it!”
