The book is based on conversations author Jeff Gold and contributor Johan Kugelberg conducted with Iggy Pop over a two-day period at the singer’s Miami home. In a new study, researchers at the University of Washington observed that nine-month-old babies, after experiencing a series of music sessions, responded to mistakes in speech patterns that other babies failed to recognize. “Our study is the first in young babies to suggest that experiencing a rhythmic pattern in music can also improve the ability to detect and make predictions about rhythmic patterns in speech,” said researcher Christina Zhao, who helmed the study.
