Back in 1972 Mick Ronson came up with one of the greatest solos ever played on a Les Paul. Thirty-five years later, guitarist Rick Tedesco is getting a chance to reproduce that solo using the same guitar Ronson played on the original recording. As participants on a forthcoming David Bowie tribute CD, Tedesco and his bandmates in the Dennis Dunaway Project—a group headed by and named for the original Alice Cooper Group bassist—will contribute an interpretation of “Moonage Daydream,” the song that served as the centerpiece for Bowie’s glam-rock masterpiece The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

Power pop fans who missed the Raspberries’ here-today-gone-tomorrow reunion tour in 2005 will soon get another chance to see the band live. On October 13, at the Highline Ballroom in New York City, original members Eric Carmen, Wally Bryson, Jim Bonfanti, and Dave Smalley will re-group for a one-off show. Tickets are priced at $50.

So strongly is Badfinger associated with the Beatles’ Apple Records that casual fans often overlook the fact that the band released two superb albums for Warner Brothers in 1974. This Tuesday (September 18), the reissue label Collector’s Choice is seeking to remedy that situation by reissuing both those albums.

Beginning September 5 for five nights following, Williams performed a first set comprised of an entire album from her award-winning catalog. In reverse chronological order, she ran through World Without Tears, Essence, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, Sweet Old World, and Lucinda Williams.
