Pavement to Reunite?

Yahoo reported yesterday that American indie rock band Pavement, which broke up in '99 after releasing five studio albums, are contemplating a reunion. This comes after former Pavement guitarist Scott Kannberg told Entertainment Weekly, "Matador is having a 20th anniversary party soon, so maybe we'll try to do something for that. The only hurdle might be getting everyone to drop what they're doing, but I'm sure the excitement of playing again will make it OK." Frontman Stephen Malkmus, however, has expressed reservations, while bassist Mark Ibold seems amenable to the idea. For the whole scoop, click here.

Remembering Jeff Healey: March 25, 1966 - March 2, 2008

Canadian blues guitarist Jeff Healey died yesterday at the age of 41 after fighting a long, difficult battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, 13-year-old daughter, and three-year-old son. Blind since infancy, Healey began playing guitar at three and went on to enjoy a successful career in music. Healey's first album in eight years, Mess of Blues, will be released in the U.S. and Canada on April 22. Harp magazine takes a look at Healey's many achievements here.

FBI Doc Reveals Mick Jagger Was Target of Assassins

Billboard reports that a new BBC documentary called The FBI at 100 includes details of a plot by several members of Hells Angels to kill Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger. Following the Altamont tragedy, a boatload of Hells Angels reportedly attempted to dock at Jagger's home in the Hamptons—where they could better bypass security and gain access to the singer—but the boat encountered a storm and was upturned. Stone Temple Pilots Add More Tour Dates

In what they're calling "a reunion of epic proportions" on their website, the Stone Temple Pilots have added six tour dates to follow the reunion show they have scheduled for May 17 in Columbus, Ohio. Vocalist Scott Weiland, who is also the singer for Velvet Revolver, has hinted that STP are considering recording a new album.

KISS' Paul Stanley to Star in Phantom of the Opera

The Las Vegas Review Journal reports that KISS singer Paul Stanley will be cast as Phantom in the city's production of Phantom of the Opera, known as Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular. If the rumors are true, this won't be the first time Stanley has played the Phantom. He's played the role twice in Toronto.

A music collection said to be the largest in the world is currently for sale on eBay, with an opening, minimum bid of $3 million. It took Paul Mawhinney, publisher of the Music Master record price guide, 50-plus years to compile a collection that includes more than six million songs on three millions records and 300,000 compact discs. He hopes to sell it all to the highest bidder, and he believes whoever buys it is getting a bargain.
