Jane’s Addiction Reunite ... Again

The NME Awards, to be held stateside for the first time on April 23 in Los Angeles, will reunite Jane’s Addiction at least for a night to bestow the band with the NME Godlike Genius Award for Extraordinary Services to Music. Original members Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, and Stephen Perkins are all set to attend. Rollingstone.com reports, “A performance is possible, but not confirmed.” Since first breaking things off in ’91, the rock band has reunited a half dozen times for various albums and tours.

According to a just-released statement: "Velvet Revolver founding members Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner announced today that they are parting ways with singer Scott Weiland. 'This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either,' said Slash. 'Among other things, his increasingly erratic on-stage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on.'"

According to Slash, the rumored Led Zeppelin tour is a no go. Speaking to the U.K.'s Daily Star, Slash said, "I’m good friends with Jimmy Page so I can tell you once and for all the tour doesn’t look like it's happening any time soon. But who knows, one day? There were rumors Velvet Revolver had been asked to support Zep on a reunion tour, but those reports were taken out of context.” For more, click this.

U2 Ink Major Deal with Madonna's Label

Though they'll maintain their longstanding record deal with Universal, U2 have signed with Live Nation in a move that will have the band's merchandising and digital and branding rights covered by the company. Last year, Madonna signed a $120 million deal with Live Nation to cover her recording and touring needs. The financial details of U2's partnership with Live Nation have not been released. It's been 15 years since Liz Phair's defining moment, the release of her masterful debut album Exile in Guyville. Written as a song-by-song response to the Rolling Stones' Exile on Main Street, the LP was about promiscuity and self-doubt, and it established Phair as a fearless artist of the highest rank. With bawdy lyrics that made it clear she was a feminist less likely to burn her bra than to tie you to her bed with it, Phair's voice sulked from the stereos of thousands of young women and the album went gold. Today brings the exciting announcement that Exile in Guyville is being reissued on ATO Records.

Jack Edwards and his wife spent 20 years building their extensive collection of Elvis records and memorabilia, and this Sunday they're auctioning more than 650 items off. Bidding starts at 10 a.m. CDT March 30 for the High-Grade Vintage Elvis Presley Collection sale being held at the Sheraton Madison Hotel in Madison, Wisconsin. Allman Bros. Postpone Annual Beacon Shows, Cancel Festival Performance

The Allman Brothers Band announced yesterday that they're postponing their annual run of 15 shows at New York City's Beacon Theatre set for May 5-24. They've also cancelled their performances at the Wanee Festival (set for April 11-12), which they host each year in Florida. Gregg Allman's battle with Hepatitis C has left him too tired to perform at the pace that Allman Brothers Band fans have come to expect, says a press release.
