Crowded House Support First Album in 14 Years with U.S. Club Tour

NME.com reports that Australian rock group Crowded House have confirmed an intimate tour of U.S. clubs, set for this spring. (Can't quite place the band? This was their massive hit in '86.) The tour is in support of their first album in 14 years, Time On Earth, which was released this past summer. The album reached No. 1 on Australia's ARIA Albums Chart.

Fleetwood Mac's Buckingham Announces Band's Return, Unsure of Crow's Involvement

In an interview with Billboard.com published today, guitarist/singer Lindsey Buckingham, who will turn 60 this October, announced that Fleetwood Mac are "looking at the idea of touring sometime in the first half of 2009." Buckingham has been a member of the band for nearly 35 years, since he and high school friend Stevie Nicks paired with Mick Fleetwood to release Rumours in 1974.

Joe Perry Recovering from Knee Replacement Surgery

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry released a statement yesterday announcing that he's recovering in the hospital after having surgery a week ago to fully replace one of his knees. This surgery followed two years of chronic pain, and was brought on when his knee gave out during a recent performance with his sons' band TAB the Band. After spending several days in the ICU "to stabilize his pain," Joe is now in a private room, where he'll remain until he's able to go home. There, he'll continue his recovery until the end of the year. Perry has had to cancel one solo show, scheduled for April 5 in Niagra Falls, New York. According to the Aerosmith website, "If there's one thing Joe Perry doesn't like, it's missing a show."

This past week has seen Velvet Revolver's tensions play out both on-stage and on the Net, with the latest barbs exchanged between frontman Scott Weiland and drummer Matt Sorum. After Weiland announced on-stage that it would be Velvet Revolver's final tour, Sorum took to his blog to address the "band turmoil"—and to air his own irritation.

Sheryl Crow told music site Spinner.com that plans are in the works for her to collaborate with Fleetwood Mac. Whether she'll join the band or just collaborate with them, it's unclear. "I don't want to make any official announcements, but I will say that we definitely have plans for collaborating in the future, and we'll see what happens," Crow said.

David Bowie took to his website recently to downplay involvement with the upcoming Scarlett Johanson debut album of all Tom Waits covers. That's not to say Bowie was trying to save face; in fact he came to the actress' defense, saying, “The songs are great, really good Tom Waits stuff, and Scarlett's performances are mystical and twice cool. She creates a mood that could have been summoned by someone like Margery Latimer or Jeanette Winterson. For more, click here.

Journey to Release New Triple Disc Set at Wal-Mart

Journey announced yesterday that their long-anticipated triple album (one disc of concert footage, one disc of new songs, and one disc of Journey hits re-recorded by the new lineup) will be available June 3 and sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores across America. The album will be called Revelation.
