Bluegrass music's best-loved mandolinist Sam Bush posted an announcement on his website yesterday saying that he’ll sit in on seven of Lyle Lovett’s tour dates in Texas this August. Bush will hit three American festivals at the beginning of the month before joining Lovett in Amarillo, Texas on August 11. The two will then tour Austin, Helotes, and Houston Texas, as well as a three-night run at the Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Texas.

Foo Fighters Wembley Show with Led Zeppelin Set For DVD Release

The Foo Fighters’ recent shows at Wembley Stadium, which saw Led Zeppelin members Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones join the band onstage for two songs, will be released on DVD in August. The surprise appearance by Zeppelin’s Page and Jones culminated two blistering nights of rock and roll by the Foo Fighters at London’s famed stadium on June 6 and 7. The DVD, titled Foo Fighters: Live at Wembley Stadium, features 18 songs from both nights, and includes the Zeppelin tracks “Rock and Roll” and “Ramble On”, which were played on the final night.

AC/DC Begin 18-Month Trek in October

As expected, legendary rockers AC/DC will embark on an extensive 18-month world tour beginning in October in support of their upcoming new release, tentatively titled Black Ice. Rob Light, a managing partner at Creative Artists Agency, confirmed the news during a panel discussion yesterday at the International Association of Assembly Managers’ 83rd annual conference and trade show in Anaheim, Calif. Although he didn’t reveal any further details on the outing, Light and other members of the panel did say that AC/DC will be one of a number of major artists set to hit the road in 2009 and beyond.

Hinder Release New Single, Announce Album Drop Date

On July 15, multi-platinum Oklahoma City rock band Hinder unleashed their raucous first single, “Use Me,” from their new album, Take It to the Limit. Now they’ve also announced that their sophomore album will hit stores on November 4—Election Day. The album is the follow-up to the massive success of 2005’s Extreme Behavior, which featured hit “Lips of Angel,” among others. Hinder’s Election Day drop date is being buoyed by a scantily clad brunette on the band’s website, wearing a stars-n-stripes swimsuit and holding a sign that says “Vote for Hinder!” Hinder have been performing Take It to the Limit tracks while on tour with 3 Doors Down and Staind.

New David Byrne and Brian Eno Album Coming in August

Former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne and renowned producer Brian Eno have collaborated on an album of new material set to make its debut in August via a new website that was launched today. The new album, titled Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, will be released only through the website. In a video streaming on the new site, Byrne announces that he wrote all the lyrics and handles the singing, while Eno wrote all the music.

Tommy Lee Picks Johnny Depp to Play Him

According to new reports, Tommy Lee wants Johnny Depp to play him in a film based on the story of his band Mötley Crüe. The drummer and father to two children with ex-wife Pamela Anderson, with whom he’s recently reconciled, says that Depp is his first pick for the part. Depp is best known for lead roles in Pirates of the Caribbean, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Edward Scissorhands. “Johnny Depp would be my choice to play me,” Lee said. “He’s the best ever.” Lee said he’s in talks with movie producers to get the Mötley Crüe movie off the ground. “We’re working on it,” Lee said. “Trying to find the right producers and director and all that sort of stuff.”

It's been a tough year for the Allman Brothers. In March, they announced that they were postponing their annual run of shows at the Beacon Theater, due to Gregg Allman's battle with Hepatitis C. Seems a bit of rest and relaxation was exactly what Allman needed. This week the band announced its return to the road.

Members of Metallica, Alice in Chains, and Anthrax will team up for an all-star tribute to late Pantera guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott at this year’s Ozzfest. Abbott’s brother, Vinnie Paul, will act as the drummer and musical director for the salute that is set to take place at the heavy metal festival on August 9 at Dallas’ Pizza Hut Park.
