Titled Reckless: My Life as a Pretender, the book will chronicle her entire life, from her 1950s childhood in Akron, Ohio to her college days at Kent State, to her move to London in the early 1970s, where she worked at Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood’s clothing store and made the acquaintance of future Sex Pistols Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious. Hynde subsequently formed The Pretenders in 1978, with James Honeyman-Scott, Peter Farndon and Martin Chambers. She has also recorded as a solo artist.
