Les Paul Standard Double Cutaway 2016 Limited

Les Paul Standard DC

Our sleek and superbly playable double-cutaway take on the legendary Les Paul has long been a favorite with players looking for contemporary looks, unfettered upper-fret access, and classic tones. This Limited Edition Les Paul Standard Double Cutaway from Gibson USA adds stunning AA+ flamed maple tops to the formula, available in 100 guitars in each of three great finish options: Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Wine Red, and Ocean Water, all in high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer.

Accompanying the more modern double-cutaway styling is a no-nonsense control complement of single master Volume and Tone controls, plus three-way toggle switch, making the Limited Edition Les Paul Standard Double Cutaway a real performance machine. Easy on-the-fly control access taps into a pair of coverless zebra-coil humbuckers, a Rhythm Pro in the neck position and a Lead Pro in the bridge. Made with genuine Alnico V magnets for the perfect balance of punch, depth and clarity, they are also wound with slightly mismatched coils for authentic PAF-like bite and edge, delivering clean to mean and everything in between with equal gusto.

With looks and tone accounted for, this Limited Edition is also totally on top of the playability. Its popular Slim Taper neck profile offers outstanding speed while feeling great in the hand, and the chambered mahogany body keeps weight reasonable for superb playing comfort. Add top-notch hardware like a Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, and efficient Grover locking kidney-button tuners and the Limited Edition Les Paul Standard Double Cutaway is a guitar to be reckoned with.

Les Paul Artist Series Pete Townshend Deluxe Goldtop ’76

Pete Townshend Les Paul

A full 40 years after the original was created—and nearly as long as that since Pete Townshend smashed it to smithereens on stage with The Who—Gibson USA has given new life to this legendary artist’s iconic guitar. The Les Paul Artist Series Pete Townshend Deluxe Goldtop ’76 essentially “puts back together” one of this famous guitar wrecker’s victims, resulting in a great period-correct Les Paul Deluxe that also features the artist’s particular, and very useful, modifications, resulting in a versatile tone machine that will please player and collector alike.

Historic construction features include the mahogany “sandwich” body with walnut stripe and seven-hole weight relief, along with a mahogany neck with comfortably rounded profile. Alongside the original style Alnico Mini-humbuckers—beloved for their clear, crisp tone—is a middle-position DiMarzio Super Distortion humbucker, as Pete had installed in his original guitar. An added “blend” control dials the DiMarzio into the signal path, and the pickup includes its own three-way toggle switch for on, off, and on out-of-phase. Another Townshend modification, the guitar also includes custom thumb-wheel strap locks, essential for your own windmilling stage antics.

Other period-correct details on the Les Paul Artist Series Pete Townshend Deluxe Goldtop ’76 include chrome-button vintage-style tuners, a wireless ABR bridge, and accurate binding and inlays. The guitar looks great in its timeless Goldtop finish in high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, and to top it all off, the case candy includes a “Break Here” sticker… to be applied to the neck at the 8th fret position for total historically correct destruction potential. We’re convinced, though, that this is one Les Paul you’ll want to keep in one piece!
