Back in 1983, Pete Townshend released the first in a series of CD compilations—titled Scoop, Another Scoop and Scoop 3—that offered an inside look into his approach to making music. Those homespun recordings of demos and rarities—the bulk of which were made in the ‘70s—were anthologized in 2002 on a 2-CD set titled Scooped. In this classic interview, conducted with Townshend in the summer of 2002, we get a fascinating glimpse into the creative mind of one of rock’s greatest artists.
