Following London’s most exciting and vibrant summer public art exhibition of giant hand painted Les Paul replica guitars, the Gibson Guitartown London Charity Auction will take place at the IndigO2 at The O2 on Tuesday November 20, 2007. The charity auction is sponsored by Coutts Bank, Hard Rock, and Newbridge Silver. Gibson Guitartown London is a charity-inspired campaign bringing the power of music together with art to raise money for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, The Prince’s Trust, and Teenage Cancer Trust. All money raised from the sale of the 62 guitars at the live auction will be split equally between the three designated charities. If you couldn’t get your hands on a pair of Led Zeppelin tickets you could however take home a giant Gibson Les Paul replica guitar designed and signed by the bands lead singer Robert Plant or how would you like a guitar signed by Paul Weller designed by Sir Peter Blake. Both these guitars and many more are now up for auction raising money for charity.

Gibson: You are back in the U.K. touring your album Songlines and live DVD. What makes the British audiences special for you? Derek Trucks: The music listeners in the U.K. were really the first Europeans to embrace the band so it’s always a warm reception with knowledgeable fans. We were excited to start our tour in London this year and the vibe was great. When did you first realize you had this incredible talent for slide guitar? When something comes natural to you at a young age you don’t really give it much thought, so I think I had the advantage early on of just doing my thing without analyzing it. I was on stage playing in clubs at nine years old, but all of my heroes set the bar so high that I knew I had a long way to go.
