Manufacturing Supervisor

Job Location: Memphis, TN

Gibson Brands, Inc., the world’s premier musical instrument manufacturer and the home of such preeminent brands as Gibson, Epiphone, Baldwin and Wurlitzer, is looking for a Manufacturing Supervisor to join the Memphis Division.  This position will be based in Memphis, Tennessee.


Provide leadership and supervision for manufacturing in assigned area.  Supports continuous improvement of productivity and efficiency as it pertains to the manufacture of guitars.

The job of Manufacturing Supervisor directly supervises and coordinates the activities of production and operating workers, such as, machine setters and operators, product assemblers, fabricators, fretted instrument makers and technicians. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production , processing and quality standards.
  • Enforce safety policies and practices
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures, or assign employee training to experienced workers.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • College degree preferred.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Three to 5 years of manufacturing supervision experience.
  • Must have 3-5 years Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Problem solving skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and improvement activities.
  • Lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certifications preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively at various levels of an organization.
  • Excel & Word proficient
  • Woodworking and guitar experience is a plus.
