President – North America

Job Location: Nashville, TN


Gibson Brands, Inc. (f/k/a Gibson Guitar Corp), the world’s premier manufacturer of musical instruments and professional audio equipment, is seeking a President of North America.  The President of North America will report directly to the Executive Vice President Global Business Development and leads Business Development for North America.  This position will be responsible for partnering with the CEO, EVP Global Business Development, General Managers and other key internal & external stakeholders to develop and execute strategies to create deep and lasting customer partnerships.  The President of North America must possess the ability to develop & flawlessly execute plans and inspire others to deliver desired results. 

Primary Position Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the EVP Global Business Development and GM’s to develop North America Business Development strategies to support both the long term vision and shorter term goals & objectives of the organization (maximizing market share, revenue growth, profitability growth and EBITA)
  • Leads the North America Business Development organization consisting of Business Development Managers, Relationship Managers and Product Specialists
  • Leads the execution of plans to establish and maintain deep and lasting relationships with customers.  Assures the right people are in place to drive consistent accomplishment of this goal
  • Provides input into the ongoing development, modification and execution of a global sales manual that details what we sell, to whom we sell, how we sell, where we sell, why we sell, and how we lead and manage those who sell
  • Swiftly takes action to address situations where established sales processes and procedures are not being followed
  • Tracks and reports on the progress of establishing true partnerships with customers. Assess and reports on the progress made with each customer to ensure the North America organization is working towards the common goal.
  • Swiftly takes action to address underperforming areas.
  • In conjunction with their team, serves as the primary relationship manager with North America customers to create deep and lasting partnerships.  Also collaborates with GM’s and other internal stakeholders to ensure their active involvement with customers
  • Serves as the primary liaison between North America customers and the GM’s and is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers & products. Maintains forecast models for customers incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from BDMs, marketing, retailer velocity & inventory turns reports, industry metric reports and other internal & external sources
  • Partners with North America customers and internal stakeholders on the development of the product portfolio and ensures a smooth and efficient transition from previous year product offerings to new model year product offerings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven track record in establishing deep and lasting customer partnerships
  • Fully grasps and embraces the power of data analytics and readily utilizes data from various sources to support decision making.  Possesses compelling numerical and analytical skills
  • Genuine understanding of brands and their power in the marketplace
  • Very results oriented and takes ownership of goals and objectives
  • Ability to identify and highlight issues early on and quickly develop and execute plans to address
  • Highly effective collaborator with internal as well as external resources
  • Challenges the status quo, proven track record of driving change and teaching & motivating individuals to develop & implement new ways of thinking and doing business
  • Experience with CPG or higher price point brands in retail is required
  • 10+ plus years of North America business development at the executive level with multiple product lines is required
  • Bachelors in business or marketing or related field required, MBA Strongly preferred
