Award-winning film directors Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino sign “Dia de los Muertos,” a 10-foot Gibson Guitar sculpture designed by visual artist George Yepes as part of the Austin GuitarTown project. The directors were in Austin to host the regional premiere of their new film, Grindhouse. This Austin-made double feature hits theaters April 6, 2007. Seventy colorful and unique guitar sculptures, designed by local and talented visual artists, can be found throughout the streets and businesses of Austin. Each is a one-of-a-kind piece of art depicting favorite musical or Texas themes. In the fall of 2007, the sculptures will be auctioned off and will benefit four local charities: The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM); The Austin Museum of Art (AMOA); American Youthworks; and the Austin Children's Museum.
