Gibson Guitar Corp., the world’s premiere musical instrument manfacturer, is looking for an aggressive, team-oriented individual to fulfill the Director of Merchandising position for our Fashion Division.
Major Job Responsibilities include: Create inventory assortments for maximum turns, margins, sales, and profitability Manage vendor rebates, marketing funds, discounts, and promotional expenditures Drive creative staff to hit specific marketing strategies Build and maintain vendor relationships Develop merchandise, marketing and ad plans
Job Requirements: 5 yrs merchandise management experience 3-5 yrs cross functional experience in purchasing, planning, and forecasting Demonstrated experience with financial management, including gross margins, inventory turn, and mark downs. Experience in developing ad plans and marketing promotions Business Administration or equivalent Degree required Advanced knowledge of MS Office, Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Gibson Musical Instruments, home of such preeminent brands as the legendary Gibson and Epiphone guitar, Baldwin piano, Wurlitzer jukebox, Slingerland drums, and Tobias bass, is seeking someone like you. The Gibson Product Management Team Product Managers (PMs) are responsible for developing and implementing strategies based on market and consumer analysis. Specifically, PMs will develop new products and related marketing campaigns, manage pricing, analyze and make recommendations on SKU management, develop and execute trade and promotional strategies, and manage their own marketing budget as approved during the annual Pro Forma process.
PMs are measured against objectives established for key metrics including Share, Margins, Product Turns, and Sales; analyzing and measuring results on a going basis. This specific PM role will focus on our rapidly expanding presence in the mass merchant and consumer electronics channels, including Target, Best Buy, Circuit City and Wal-Mart. Expansion into other large chain accounts (e.g., drug) is also a strong possibility. Qualifications: - 4 – 7+ years of brand management experience with a consumer products company
- Significant experience working with “big box” retailers, in the areas of merchandising/display programs, warehouse logistics/replenishment, and promotional planning and funding. Knowledge of merchandising team members for mass merchants a plus.
- Demonstrated strength in multi-functional leadership
- Ability to bring a disciplined approach to a frequently ambiguous industry
- Demonstrated strengths in strategic thinking, data analysis, and problem solving
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong appreciation of music, with guitar and/or piano playing a plus
- Undergraduate degree required in marketing and/or business (MBA preferred)
